Our expert team is graduate students from Columbia University studying negotiation and conflict resolution. Individually, we are experts in our field, and, as a team, we create opportunities for sustainability in the conflict-resolution field with this LDEST blog. The LDEST blog analyzes corporate conflict in the private sector by focusing on conflict at Amazon.com. At Amazon, the environment is very combative. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, established performance reviews with a direct style of communication to critique someone with bad work performance. This environment at Amazon creates many workplace conflicts, which has the second highest employee turnover rate among Fortune 500 companies, with a median tenure of only 1.1 years in 2013, according to Business Insider. Therefore, our diverse team wants to put forth multiple perspectives on the workplace conflicts that occur at Amazon.com board, and Amazon.com warehouse employees. Conflict issues range from interdepartmental cultures, discrimination, leadership, and injustice. We will explore the conflicts by using Conflict Issue, Conflict map, CMM serpentine, and more to understand the actors, dynamics, and structures of conflicts, as well as see the conflict between Amazon.com board, and Amazon.com warehouse employees from the first five weeks of our Advance Conflict Resolution class. Finally, our team will give recommendations based on our analysis that would work to resolve conflicts and help sustain peace. Additionally, to see further detail about the conflict analysis and intervention, please open the next following page under the blog tab by order from top to bottom (conflict issue until intervention strategy).
